A Wrinkle In Time

33

A young girl is visited by three ethereal beings who grant her access to the entire universe in an attempt to locate her father.

The story follows Meg (Storm Reid), whose father, a brilliant scientist, has disappeared seemingly into thin air. After the loss of her father, Meg struggles in school and daily life, feeling like an outsider with no chance of closure to heal her heartbreak and grief.

As she holds on to a small slither of hope that her father is still out there, Meg befriends schoolmate Calvin (Levi Miller), who she talks to her about dad’s theories of cross-dimensional and universal travel, which explains how people can travel through space using wrinkles in time.

One day, Meg is approached by three unusual, ethereal beings – Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling). Each of them aged billions of years old, the three set Meg, Calvin, and Meg’s brother on a journey of discovery across the universe to find and save Meg’s father from a dreadful fate.

A Wrinkle in Time, originally written by author Madeleine L’Engle, is amongst the bestselling Young Adult novels of all time, with more than 10 million copies sold globally. Directed by Oscar nominee Ava DuVernay – who directed the multi-award winning Selma – and with screenwriter Jennifer Lee (director and screenwriter for 2013’s Frozen), A Wrinkle in Time is sure to be one of the most popular films of 2018.

The film stars some of Hollywood’s most famous faces, including Oprah Winfrey (Selma), Reese Witherspoon (Wild), Mindy Kaling (Inside Out), Chris Pine (Wonder Woman), Zach Galifianakis (Birdman), and relative new comer Storm Reid, who previously had a small role in 12 Years A Slave.
