Pacific Rim Uprising

Born into a world at war, where the monsters that tried to destroy earth are battling the monsters created by humans to stop them, a new generation must put an end to the madness in order to prevent an apocalypse.

While Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) may be dead and buried, his fighting spirit lives on in his son Jake (John Boyega). But, like the rest of his generation, Jake has inherited a world where war is normality and peace does not exist.

The evil monsters are at war with the giant bots created by mankind to kill them, but this is only the beginning. As a new threat arrives in the shape of a gargantuan creature capable of tearing down cities single-handedly, the time comes for Jake to spring into action.

Reuniting with Mako Mori to head up a fresh team of Jaeger pilots, Jake sets out to destroy the Kaiju and prevent the imminent apocalypse from destroying the planet.

While Pacific Rim was by no means the biggest blockbuster of 2013, it quickly found its own audience and created a cult following, who were all hungry for the next chapter. Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) directs the hotly-anticipated sequel, that comes loaded with special effects and an all-star cast.

Since making his mark in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), John Boyega has barely been off cinema screens, starring in the brilliant Detroit (2017) and the forthcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017). Support comes from Scott Eastwood (The Fate of the Furious), Tian Jing (Kong: Skull Island) and Charlie Day (Fist Fight).
