Service personnel, veterans and dignitaries joined the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Robin Perry, as Surrey Heath Borough Council raised a flag for the UK Armed Forces on Monday 24 June 2019.

The Armed Forces Day flag was raised outside Surrey Heath House ahead of the national day of commemoration, which this year takes place on Saturday 29 June 2019.

The flag was simultaneously raised by local authorities across the country in the week leading up to Armed Forces Day.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were; Lt Col Chris Boryer, Maj Om Pun and RSM Rob Jones from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst; Lt Col Bryon Brotherton and Captain Jade Haron of the Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park; Chief Superintendent Alison Barlow and Inspector Bob Darkens from Surrey Police; Alderman Franklin, Alderman Whittart and Alderman Sams; Councillor Richard Brooks, Leader, Surrey Heath Borough Council, Tim Pashen, Deputy Chief Executive of Surrey Heath Borough Council and Armed Services veterans.

The Rev Mike Thomason, Minister and retired Army Chaplin, High Cross Church, Camberley officiated at the ceremony.
