There is consultation open regarding the Fire and Rescue Service which is proving to be quite controversial!
On first view it will impact crew’s operating out of the following Fire Stations:
Banstead; Camberley; Egham; Fordbridge; Guildford; Haslemere; Painshill; walton-on-Thames and Woking
Below is what’s happening to your communities fire station
Camberley Fire Station:
From: Two ‘Wholetime’ crews located at the fire station ready to respond 24/7.
To: One ‘Wholetime’ crew located at the fire station ready to respond 24/7.
One ‘Day’ crew based at the fire station during the day, ready to respond to incidents
Meaning 1 Fire appliance covering the entire Camberley and further afield at night
This will also pave the way for charges to be made for ‘non emergency services’ such as rescuing trapped animals, Rescue from lifts
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has branded proposed further cuts to Surrey fire and rescue service as “incomprehensible”
The FRS plan says that by “By working differently we can be more efficient and effective.”
What do you think?
Have a read and please do respond to the consultation it only takes a few minutes.
