With glorious weather, record sales and attendance, Frimley Lodge Live really was the place to be last weekend.
Over 3000 people flocked to the award winning Frimley Lodge Park to enjoy the fifth tribute festival organised by Camberley Theatre.
The festival was even bigger and better than ever before with over 20 acts taking to the stage across the weekend.
On Saturday 4 August, festival goers took a trip back to the heady days of Brit Pop with tributes to Robbie Williams, The Spice Girls and Blur.
There were also performances from some fantastic up and coming artists including singer-songwriter Jack Bowden and indie-soul artist Light Army. Established 8 piece folk band Ushti Baba delivered a fun and engaging performance whilst headliners Oas-is, who are made up of 5 Oasis fanatics, sang and played their hearts out!
On Sunday 5 August, there was a more relaxed atmosphere. Local bands The Mysteries and The Dolomites warmed up the crowd before soul singer BR James’ performance. The cast of Bye Bye Baby went back to the 60s, singing classics by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons leaving audience members beggin’ for more!
Wayne Dilks performed an amazing selection of Wham and George Michael songs before The Angelo Starr Band topped the bill entertaining the crowd with Northern Soul hits!
With bouncy castles, face-painting and workshops from Camberley Theatre’s youth theatre Creative Minds Academy, there were plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained! There was also a variety of food stalls and a bar tent for customers to indulge.
Theatre Manager Andy Edmeads said: “With record numbers, this year was definitely an event to remember. Alongside fantastic tribute bands and headline sets from Oas-is and The Angelo Starr Band, it was also great to see local performers share the stage with some amazing up and coming talent from the likes of Ushti Baba, Leila Fay and Little Dave and the Sun Sessions.
There was a great atmosphere across the weekend, topped off with glorious weather in the beautiful surroundings of Frimley Lodge Park. Thanks to everyone who made the event possible and such a huge success”.
The event saw audiences singing and dancing the night away. In the words of one of the audience members “we had an amazing 2 days at Frimley Lodge Live, the whole family had a great time. Top music, food and a great atmosphere”!
